Fernanda and Tyler got married in the beautiful Rose Garden in Queen’s Park, New Westminster BC on May 20, 2023. A quirky and fun couple, they wanted to celebrate their way by fusing some creative Brazilian culture with classic British Columbia beauty. I am SO happy they trusted WasteKnot to make their wedding day come to life! Mallory’s home office is located just across from Queen’s Park, making this a super local location for our Lead Planner and one of her assistants who lives in the neighborhood.
Eco-swaps Fern and Ty incorporated: having the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception all walking distance in the same park; rented many decor pieces and all rentals for catering from local vendors; used dried florals from an organic seasonal flower farm which are reusable and last longer than fresh cut flowers; focused on shareable food including charcuterie-style picnic during cocktail hour (no leftovers), buffet-style dinner (minimal leftovers packed up immediately); and Brazilian snacks for late-night and dessert (some leftovers sent home with the couple); waste management was sorted onsite or composted.
Some key elements that helped make this day look absolutely magical were dried florals and eucalyptus from Yakashiro Farms (a sustainable floral farm in Abbotsford), gorgeous boho-style dried bouquets and boutonnieres by Alicia’s Florals, custom hand calligraphy from Flying Jewel Studios for signage, custom handmade embroidered hoops by Mamoo Crafts, stunning decor from Bespoke Decor in Burnaby, and lovely table setting and reception rentals from Pedersen’s Event Rentals in Vancouver. Delicious food was provided by: Boards by Selene Luxury Charcuterie, Savoury City Catering (my favourite local catering company!), Cakes in a Box, and Braziliant Catering (late night and sweets). Shout out to DJ Shaine from About Town Entertainment for the tunes and vibe, childcare providers from Dream Nannies, the fun photo booth team from Dang Good Booths, and of course the extremely talented photographer Leanne Sim.
